An Up Themed Engagement at Clark County Museum from Cassidy Zellmann Photography

Up Themed Engagement | Little Vegas Wedding

Have you seen the movie Up? It’s one of my favorite animated films, and although it makes me cry at times, it’s also so sweet. The couple in today’s engagement shoot, Chris and Michelle, also love the film and decided to theme their photos around it. After finding 40 balloons, the perfect venue and an adventurous photographer, these fantastic photos were the result. Too cute! Be sure to read the story behind the photos from the photographer, Cassidy Zellmann, at the bottom of the post!

More from the photographer:
Chris, who found me via Yelp, and I exchanged emails and phone conversations for almost two months before the shoot going over details, locations, propping, styling, and anything else that was going to help us make the most of their time for this engagement session. We settled on a location with a more vintage feel to it: The Clark County Heritage Museum! I adore shooting at this place because it has so many wonderful and different aspects to it. I have yet to have one session even resemble another.

Chris and Michelle gathered propping on their own end: suspenders, printables, and a helium balloon kit (oh that was fun lol!) And those glasses? They are actually Chris’ regular glasses which I must say were pretty awesome. I made sure to load up my car with any other vintage inspired propping me might use: luggage, a vintage 1940’s picnic basket (yes it’s that old, it was my great-grandmother’s) plus a picnic blanket to help pull this shoot off.

When we had finished with the shoot, Michelle had the thought to take them back to a child who was in a photo session with another photographer there that day. Little moments like that made this a beautiful session.

Matt and Mylin’s Swank Hyde Lounge Engagement by Fabio and Adri

Hyde Engagement by Fabio and Adri Photography | Little Vegas Wedding

Hyde at Bellagio is a spectacular spot. Luxurious decor and a fantastic view of the Bellagio fountains and mid-Strip excitement make it a great spot for drinks and a night out, of course. However it’s also fantastic for fashion shoots and weddings, and even engagements. I’m super happy to be sharing Matt and Mylin’s engagement photos there today!

Matt and Mylin asked Fabio and Adri Photography for a “high fashion” shoot, and they delivered. I love that they wore elegant evening wear; a tux for him and a slinky black lace number for her. From the photos you might mistake them for models, but Mylin works in the wedding industry and Matt works in the nightclub hospitality business in Las Vegas, so Hyde was a great choice for their engagement photos. The more casual photos were shot at Las Vegas Country Club with the couple’s beloved rescue dogs, Al and Charlie. Matt and Mylin will be marrying in California in the fall. Congratulations!

Desert Engagement Session at Red Rock Canyon from Jenna Ebert Photography

Red Rock Engagement | Jenna Ebert Photography on Little Vegas Wedding

If you are in any way a regular reader of Little Vegas Wedding, you know I am a dog lover. I especially love when a couple incorporates their friend into wedding photos, or engagement photos as Stacey and Bryan have, today.

Jenna Ebert Photography went out around Red Springs to capture this super cute couple (who are marrying in Arizona next month) and their dog, Buster. Buster helped announce the forthcoming marriage on Stacey and Bryan’s save the date cards with a sign the bride-to-be made.

I love the earthy, casual feel of the location and the outfits they chose to rock for the photos. Fabulous — have fun at the wedding next month, guys!

Karen and Zach’s Floyd Lamb Park Engagement by Alisha Sims Photography

Floyd Lamb Park Engagement | Little Vegas Wedding

Zach and Karen are new residents to the Las Vegas area, brought there by Zach’s work with the US Air Force. The couple eloped in a private ceremony in December, but took some engagement photos with photographer Alisha Sims in Las Vegas, the first city they got to call home as a couple. Certainly special since Zach’s work is sure to have the couple living all around the world!

While the couple has two rescue dogs named Ellie and Jake, it was only Jake the dachshund appeared in the photos with the couple. And we all know how I feel about pets in engagement photos (umm…LOVE ‘EM!) so of course I had to feature this heartwarming session. Isn’t the rainbow amazing? And it’s not a Floyd Lamb Park shoot without a peacock or two…

Tips for Pulling Off a Romantic Proposal in Las Vegas

So, you’ve picked the style of proposal you think is right for your mate from this list of suggestions, but you’re still a little shaky on the details. Besides hiring a professional, here are some tips for making your Las Vegas proposal go off smoothly!

Reconsider the Spot
As previously stated, it might seem romantic and iconic, but right in front of the Bellagio fountains might not be the spot to pop the question. Loud music, lots of people and little privacy might not be the right combination. Same goes for the Eiffel Tower observation deck at Paris Las Vegas. Additionally, you might be hoping for your favorite Las Vegas Strip show help you pop the question, but the reality is that many do not assist in proposals. Their requests to do so are too numerous! So if you were hoping the stars of Cirque du Soleil’s latest show would help you ask, you should probably think again.

Consider Photographing the Moment
Photographers are pros and will find a way to work with you and your planned schedule to be there when the moment happens, in a secretive way. Be it at the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas or at a staged stop on a limo tour of The Strip, having a photograph of the exact moment it happened for yourself, friends and family may be the perfect touch.

Upgrade that Suite
Use the $20 trick and proposal angle at check-in to politely request a suite upgrade, or just book a fabulous suite. Some beautiful, unforgettable suites include MGM Grand Skyline Terrace Suite, Cosmopolitan Wraparound Suites, Mandarin Oriental Strip View Suite, Aria Tower Suite, a Bellagio suite directly facing the fountains, Planet Hollywood or Paris Las Vegas suite facing the Bellagio Fountains, Encore’s Salon Suites, Mirage Lanai Villas or Hotel 32 at Monte Carlo.

If You Think They Are Onto You…
…they probably are. But that’s okay, life decisions of this magnitude are better when not completely out of the blue. Just work on making it personal, and memorable. It doesn’t have to be a mind blowing surprise and there is no way to really guess when the exact moment will be, so it will still be an emotional surprise.

Plan an Activity Beforehand
Setting up one of the activities I suggested in the previous article like a romantic scavenger hunt or day of pampering will give you time to set up the hotel suite and get it decorated and romantic. One of the chain drugstores on The Strip like CVS or Walgreens (multiple locations) have chilled champagne, flowers and LED/flameless candles, or concierge can help you get a hold of these items to make the atmosphere super romantic.

Get Down on One Knee
You might think it cliche or obvious, but it’s an important step and a very classic and romantic gesture. It’s also completely unmistakable as a sign to your partner, and everyone around you.

Expect a Response
If you do end up popping the question even somewhat publicly, chances are you will have an audience. Everyone loves romance, and that down on bended knee move is sure to get noticed. Be prepared for photos, videos and cheers and applause right after it happens. Of course, you might both be so overwhelmed, you might not even notice!

Have a Plan Afterwards
Be it cocktails at Chandelier Bar, a helicopter tour over the Strip, popping a cold bottle of bubbly back in the suite or a delicious dinner, have the next step planned and ready. That is, after all the phone calls and social media updates are made!
