DIY Carnival Wedding | Little Vegas Wedding

Ashley & Blayne were married at the Las Vegas LDS Temple, and celebrated afterwards with friends and family in a fabulous backyard wedding with a carnival theme. And they went big with the circus theme: a kissing booth and other fair-style attractions and games, pony rides, an actual big top, a carnival-inspired menu and more. They really captured the feel of a real carnival, I think: fun for all ages, and a casual, memorable vibe for a backyard affair. The photos were taken by a new contributor to Little Vegas Wedding: Chauntelle Graf – welcome, Chauntelle!

More on the details of this DIY wedding from the bride, Ashley, follows…

The Ceremony – Las Vegas LDS Temple
Blayne and I got married in the Las Vegas LDS temple. We had a beautiful ceremony where we were sealed to each other forever.

Reception – Private Residence
I have been to many receptions and they are all the same thing: food, dancing, and catching up with people you haven’t seen in a while. So when it was finally my turn to have one of my own, I wanted to make it memorable. I decided to do a carnival themed wedding. I know what you’re thinking…. TACKY!! But with the help of my incredibly talented mother and sister, we pulled it off, an elegant carnival! My dad created a “big top” structure and we covered it with lights to give it a romantic feel. We had it all, from cotton candy to pony rides.

Amazing Memories
There were definitely some stressful things! Ha ha! We had corn dogs that weren’t cooked all the way through, so during the reception my mom and sister had to go heat them up in a microwave. Half of the lights on our big top structure went out for about 10 minutes, but I will never forget how much fun I had! One of my favorite parts of the reception was riding off on a tandem bike with my new hubby as our guests threw colorful rice at us. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Ashley and Blayne’s #1 Tip for Other Couples Planning Vegas Weddings
Obviously if you’re getting hitched in lovely Las Vegas, you know it is going to be H.O.T. Plan accordingly! My wedding was September 28th and I swear my makeup was melting off my face. So if you are planning your wedding from April to October, expect to be doing a lot of makeup touch ups and reapplying deodorant!
