I have yet to visit Eldorado Canyon (aka Nelson Ghost Town) but I love it so much, I try to feature weddings and engagements shot there as much as I can. It’d be so awesome to have one day a week just dedicated to Nelson posts, actually… haha! Maybe some day. I think the thing that appeals to me is that the town never looks the same. Rusted out buses, crashed planes, old barns, fields of desert cacti – it’s so unique, and is super flexible.
Jamie Y Photography shot Laura and Wade’s destination wedding at Eldorado Canyon not too long ago, and the photos turned out so beautifully. Laura and Wade came from Missouri specifically to tie the knot at the scenic abandoned mining town, and they transported the 50 of their guests out to the little ghost town in a bus!
Angie Kelly of Peachy Keen Unions wed the couple, surrounded by the cacti and rustic architecture of the town – yet, a very modern touch as they both read their personal vows straight off an iPhone. The wedding colors – canary yellow, navy blue and turquoise look so great against the desert tones and the busy backgrounds at Nelson, don’t they? After the wedding Jamie took a few more photos of the couple as the guests nibbled on snacks and had beverages. Loving the ruffles of Laura’s gown in her bridal portraits!
