I have a confession: my wedding registry was non-existent. Well…sorta. Since our wedding was a Las Vegas destination affair, we just told our guests that attending the wedding was gift enough, to thank them for the time taken off of work and travel costs involved. We didn’t register anywhere!
Looking back, I’m embarrassed. I think we would have registered somewhere if the registries offered what we, as a couple, were looking for. Like many of you, we already had pots, pans and dishes from years of living together. What we didn’t have was cool barware, speciality kitchen goods or the time to sit down and decide on a cool class to take together. There wasn’t even any place in town we could register to get that.
But…that was four years ago. Today, Zola is here for you!
Zola offers a modern take on the classic wedding registry. They understand that while couples may feel it is tacky to ask for cash at their wedding, the reality is that most couples are seeking more unusual items than those you might find at a standard department store. (After all, who needs another salad spinner?)
So instead, Zola offers funky homewares and kitchen items (think names like Jonathan Adler and Vitamix,) modern furniture and artwork, food, bicycles, and my favorite: experiences! How about a beer brewing session? Language classes? Or a honeymoon bike tour of Tuscany?
Here are some of my favorite gifts from the Zola registry:
For those of you still more interested in money, they also provide a classier way to solicit for honeymoon funds and cash. You can even request funds for future needs like moving costs or handyman services!
Even better, for destination weddings they will ship gifts directly to your home. AND you can add items to your registry from any other site online, and your wedding guests never have to know.
They even provide that experience most people find most fun when adding items to the registry: a barcode scanner. You can turn your iPhone into a scanner and zap just about anything to add it to your registry. Basically, Zola is making me wish I could do my wedding registry all over again.
And to get you started on your new, modern wedding registry, Little Vegas Wedding reader, Zola has provided $25 in credit! So get window shopping!
