Themed Wedding Packages and Venues

Do you dream of marrying on a replica Venetian gondola or on a recreation of the grand staircase of the Titanic? You’re in luck! Although there has been a movement away from themed weddings in recent years, there are still many interesting, fun options available. Please remember that all information is accurate as of publishing, but be sure to contact the venue for the latest pricing, package options and policies. Sam’s Town – Mystic Falls Park

Sam’s Town – Mystic Falls Park

This locals casino and hotel with a mildly kitschy Old West/stampede theme is about 20 minutes east of the Strip. It offers the standard range of somewhat drab hotel meeting rooms and function spaces, but what makes it really special is the 25,000 square foot atrium called Mystic Falls Park. It’s a toasty (nearly tropical, as in the winter when I visited) indoor setting with a lot of natural light and a patio that overlooks the half acre of waterfalls and trees of the park below from the second level. The overlook is available for ceremonies starting at $350 for up to 100 people.

Reception Options: Catering is done in house with pricing starting at $25+ for plated meals, $34+ for buffet style, minimum 50 guests. Cash or hosted bar available, with $250 minimum. There are restaurants on site, but they are mostly casual chains.

For more information and photos, visit the venue spotlight on Sam’s Town.

Cosmopolitan – The Chelsea Theater

Cosmopolitan – The Chelsea Theater

The Chelsea is a concert space and some time event venue that might be well suited to the right couple for their wedding. Design inspiration came from an abandoned glass factory turned working theater at this industrial-style venue, which features cast glass chandeliers, a vintage lobby bar, private VIP opera boxes and a decorative grand staircase. In addition, remnant brick tiling, an eclectic collection of stage production props and a state-of-the-art sound system create the ideal environment to bring your story to life. With 40,000 square feet of transformable “black box” space split over  two levels, The Chelsea is a brilliant adaptable backdrop for intimate conversations as well as large scale productions. From concerts to banquets, classroom settings and sporting events, The Chelsea offers spectacular, one-of-a-kind experiences for conference and concert-goers alike.

Reception Options: Little information is available on events at The Chelsea so far, but in-house catering for buffet and plated meals starts $105 per person through Cosmopolitan’s catering department. Bar packages start at $29 per person.

Excalibur – The Wedding Chapel

Excalibur – The Wedding Chapel

Over the years, Excalibur has softened the medieval theme, and the chapel is not as Renaissance fair’d out as you might think, m’lady. However, for those who do enjoy the middle ages, the wedding chapel works with a custom costume company and has a wide range of renaissance period themed outfits for men and women available for rent. Mixed reviews online about how they look, but with other costume rental companies in town, you have choices.

There are two chapel sizes available, and both feature stained glass, trimmed topiaries (faux) and single chair style seating instead of pews. The larger of the chapels features a very nice vaulted cathedral style ceiling. Floral supplied by Foxtail Floral

Reception Options: In addition to ceremonies, the coordinators will also help you set up a reception on site through hotel catering, from $45 a person and up. There is a Bucca di Beppo just down the hall from the chapel as well, with great group rates.

Cost:
$199-1575+
Guests:
Small chapel: 20; Large chapel: 75
Mandalay Bay – Shark Reef Aquarium

Mandalay Bay – Shark Reef Aquarium

15 species of shark, and 1.5 million gallons of seawater surround the ceremony and reception venues at Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef aquarium. Weddings in the aquarium must take place before 9am, Sunday through Thursday, and only have space for 10 guests who must stand as the ceremony takes place inside the shark tunnel in the aquarium.

The Seascape Ballroom opened in 2013, with an expanded reception space (and patio!) that envelopes you in marine splendour as sharks swim by you and your guests “under the sea” past floor to ceiling windows. With space for 80 guests, ceremonies and receptions are possible here from 7am to 11pm daily. Receptions are only possible in this space as an add-on to an existing Mandalay Bay ceremony package.

Cost:
$1600+
Guests:
Up to 10 in the aquarium, Up to 80 in Seascape Ballroom
New York New York – Big Apple Roller Coaster

New York New York – Big Apple Roller Coaster

New York New York does not offer a wedding chapel like nearby sister hotels MGM Grand or Excalibur, but they do make up for it with their one option: a roller coaster wedding! This short 15 minute ceremony is performed before you take a crazy ride on The Big Apple Coaster, in the morning or evening.

Reception Options: Ballrooms and on-site catering are available, in addition to restaurants such as Nine Fine Irishmen and Il Fornaio.

Venetian + Palazzo – Bridge of Love

Venetian + Palazzo – Bridge of Love

The Bridge of Love is a grand architectural feature inside the Shoppes at Venetian in the replica of Venice’s St. Mark’s Square, spanning the Grand Canal. The ceremony is very public, and has space for 20 guests who must stand during the ceremony. The Venetian website does not do the best job of featuring photos of the various locations and options (watch this video for a good tour), but there are some very lovely indoor and outdoor options.

Reception Options: In-house catering begins at $76 per person, hosted bars from at $31 per person. Popular on-site restaurant options include Canaletto, Bouchon, Carnevino, CUT, Delmonico and Grand Lux Cafe.

Venetian + Palazzo – Gondolas

Venetian + Palazzo – Gondolas

This ceremony takes place on the winding Grand Canal of the Shoppes at Venetian, on a special white and gold gondola used only for weddings. The gondolas are quite small, and there is just room for the couple marrying, and one guest, depending on the package chosen. The canals wind through the attached shopping mall, even going outside at some points and come complete with singing gondoliers.

Reception Options: In-house catering begins at $76 per person, hosted bars from at $31 per person. Popular on-site restaurant options include Canaletto, Bouchon, Carnevino, CUT, Delmonico and Grand Lux Cafe.
