Las Vegas Arts District Wedding from Mike L Photos | Little Vega

I love to feature the quirky and vibrant photography from the dynamic duo behind Mike L Photography. They seem to be a magnet for some of the coolest couples marrying in Vegas, and I always know there is going to be an amazing story behind the wedding…along with some incredible photos!

Today is no exception (of course.) Amy and Michael spontaneously eloped to Las Vegas, just the two of them. A legit, “let’s call our family and tell them what we just did,” style elopement. The kind of wedding that gives me goosebumps!

The pair said they met at the “worst party of all time,” when Michael switched out the jazz that was playing to Elvis. As a lover of The King, Amy had to find out who was playing DJ, and introduced herself to Michael, where she discovered they both loved Elvis AND they shared a birthday. They’ve been together ever since. Fate, right?

Somehow it’s not surprising this free-spirited couple got hitched at a little chapel in Vegas, had an incredible photo session and did drinks at the legendary Atomic Liquors before heading back to The Strip for a celebratory dinner. Read on for more about this offbeat post-elopement photo session from the bride!

Amy’s dress? A $50 vintage number from the 1960s that she bought on eBay!

Why Amy and Michael chose to elope in Las Vegas:
We wanted to elope because we didn’t want the stress of a wedding and wanted it to be our own little party. We decided on Las Vegas because, I guess because it’s Las Vegas…and there’s also the fact that we met because Mike played Elvis’s “Never Been to Spain” at that horrible party.

Immediately after we got married, but before we met Mike and Courtney, we raced to the Vegas sign at the south end of Vegas, took a selfie and started alerting our family and friends via text. Much of the rest of the day (between photos) was spent answering phone calls, clarifying that, “Yes, we did, for real,” or apologizing: “…but, no one was invited.”

On the post-wedding chapel photo session:
Even though we decided to elope and make it a purely selfish event, we still wanted the event to be more than “any f*cking Monday” so we wanted photos that commemorated that we had a good time doing it. We wanted to look good and take pictures that would really memorialize the event. I was the one that spent a lot of time finding photographers that would spend a few hours with us after the event taking fun pictures. I had a great feeling about Mike and Courtney. The photos I saw on their blog were amazing and I could tell that we would have the experience we hoped for. We got much more than we could’ve hoped. They are amazing.
