Here’s a hazard as a wedding blogger. You look at many, MANY wedding cakes every day. But how many is too many?
Pinterest, Flickr, on other wedding blogs, cake blogs, in cake studio windows…they all feed the addiction. And if you’re a Vegas hotel obsessed blogger this just sort of blends together after a while, and sometimes, well, the cakes start to look like Vegas hotels. Or is it the other way around?
So join me on a journey as we re-imagine some famous Las Vegas hotels, casinos and landmarks as wedding cakes in this fun post. While all but one of these cakes were not expressly designed to reflect the hotel, I couldn’t help but notice a passing resemblance in many of these cases.
Some of the comparisons are offbeat and a little abstract. Some are right on the nose. All are inspired by the architecture, colors and themes of various Las Vegas hotels and landmarks.
1. Golden Nugget
Inspiration drawn by the prismatic wall that lines the exterior of the Golden Nugget
2. Mix Restaurant at Mandalay bay
The glass bubbles also remind me of Twist at Mandarin Oriental, too. It’s that glass bubble connection.
RIP O’Sheas. You are missed.
4. LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at Mirage
5. Tournament of Kings at Excalibur
That cake is probably too regal to be associated with Excalibur, to be honest
6. Fab Rooms at Flamingo
I actually have a hard time believing this ISN’T the cake directly inspired by something in Vegas. But that’s actually the next cake…
Kari of Retro Bakery in Las Vegas was inspired by the old school Stardust (RIP) sign for this cake
8. Linq at The Quad
At first I thought this most reminded me of Cosmopolitan (the purple, maybe?) but then Vegas Tripping reminded me of the Linq Vortex at the renovated Quad. Nice Qake, huh?
9. Poker Room at Aria
10. Mandalay Bay Beach
11. Dale Chihuly Glass Installation at Bellagio
That cake is sugar art, directly inspired by Chihuly’s work. Amazing, right?
12. Caesars Palace
13. Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan
14. Circus Circus
Oddly, there is a lack of wedding cakes with a creepy clown theme.
15. The Shops at Crystals
To me, the cake is not even the most ridiculous thing here (although it IS impressive) it’s the name of the chocolate boutique that makes it: CHOCCYWOCCYDOODAH. I’ll bet they Google really well. They also do an amazing mermaid cake I almost included as an homage to Silverton Lodge and Casino.
16. Encore Lobby Bar and Cafe
I think I saw every damned red and gold cake on the planet trying to match this bar
17. Veer Towers
Alright, I admit it. I’m stretching it with this one. I just really like that cake!
18. Mandalay Bay
I would have used this for Tropicana if they had kept their gold windows.
19. Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health
So the sugar “curl” on top is actually supposed to resemble an ocean wave, but all I saw was the twisted exterior of the Lou Ruvo Center when I saw it.
This is the cake I am most likely to inhale on this list, by the way. It’s white chocolate + chai with a caramel center, topped with gold leaf. All in an adorable single serving size. Maybe not so adorable when you’ve eaten three, though
Could also double as a cake stand in for the Clark County Government Center pyramid
21. NY NY Las Vegas
22. Suite at Bellagio
24. Venetian and Palazzo
Good for Rio, maybe, too?
25. Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas
I really really wanted to replicate the gold bullion wall in the lobby of the Mandarin for this one, but no body made a cake nice enough to show off, so fans it was. The runner up is below
26. Chateau at Paris Las Vegas
Cause nothing says “classy French baroque design” like one of the busiest clubs on the Strip and the shenanigans that happen in there
If you’re looking for that extra cute layer of Vegas fun for your wedding, maybe matching your cake to your venue is just the ticket! But at the very least, you got to check out some gorgeous eye candy. Or eye cake, as it were. :)
If you didn’t have a cake craving at the start of this post, you probably do now. I’m off to get a slice!
This intimate 40 guest wedding at the Wynn used inspiration from terrariums and greenery for the theme, which complimented the gold, peach and blushing pink colors elsewhere in the wedding. Photographed by the lovely team of Tiffani and Ellie at Sun & Sparrow, you will be blown away by the ways the natural theme was incorporated into the details.
Jason and Victoria traveled from Los Angeles for their destination wedding which was held in the peaceful and private Primrose Court at Wynn, and included a number of DIY projects pulled from wedding blogs and Pinterest to complete the theme.
The bride, Victoria, writes: “I did all of the centerpieces, table numbers, and cake table decor. My favorite was how the terrarium apothecary jars turned out. It was long and laborious but it came together just as I wanted.” She even spent time creating initial prototypes to make sure all of the projects turned out just perfectly. What attention to detail. To complete the floral looks, Pam at The Palette assisted, adding peach Sahara roses and green orchids to the manzanita branches.
After the garden ceremony, and a short bridal portrait shoot, the wedding party headed over to Joe’s Stonecrab restaurant at the Forum Shops to dine, drink and dance. What a sweet end to a beautiful day.
Such a cute first look sequence!

One thing I learned from today’s wedding? Las Vegas chapel weddings need not be cookie cutter! They can be completely original and feature fabulous photography.
Travis and Ashley looked absolutely stunning for their destination wedding at Chapel of the Flowers. The couple went for the whole meal deal, getting everything through the Chapel – their wedding ceremony, limousine transportation, photographer, floral and more.
I love the props the couple included in their photos, which started during the ceremony at the Chapel of the Flowers but extended along the length of the Strip, with stops downtown, at the Wynn Resort, and Welcome to Las Vegas Sign.
Their photographers, Every Detail (Chapel of the Flowers on-site photography partner) were there for the various photo sessions, including the one of them jumping on the bed and the bridal portraits of Ashley in Little Chapel’s famous red chair – doesn’t she look amazing? Her beauty on the day was completely done by … her! So stunning, and so fun. Love her choice of a black feather, red and white rose bouquet as well. Congratulations!

I’m such a sucker for the architecture and design at Wynn and Encore. I find it so inspiring! I love walking on those plush carpets, the rich colors, the light airy feel and lush greenery, the little details all over the properties – so it’s no surprise that I love these engagement photos by Rachel Garcia at Brilliant Imagery. They really highlight the couple so well!
Hilea and Chad, who will be getting married in Utah a little later this year, look so happy and relaxed in the photos. I love the umbrella theme – both in the “Wynncore” decor and used as props. I really like that Rachel included a few photos of the decor as extra shots – such a nice reminder of where you shot your engagement photos, and it would be pretty cool to look back years from now and see what things used to look like.
What an adorable couple and what a cute spring engagement session!

This adorable elopement in the Wynn Las Vegas is so intimate and personal, since it was really just the couple and their officiant. Their photographer, McKenzi Taylor of Taylored Photo Memories writes:
I actually wasn’t hired to photograph their ceremony. I showed up as a witness for Angie Kelly and surprised them with the opportunity to have me photograph their ceremony! In the end it worked out wonderfully because they got some images to share with family and friends and it was a fun surprise for them.
How awesome for the couple! I love the photos McKenzi shot too. That gold seashell in the suite is stunning…and so is the couple.
Such a sweet story! For more photos visit Taylored Photo Memories blog!
