Well hello there, pardner. Why don’t you kick off those boots, grab some sweet tea and pull up a stump to join us for today’s styled wedding shoot by Taylored Photo Memories?
This stylized wedding shoot is a lotta country & western, a little bit desert inspired but totally full of love … and horses! The photos and idea may be just a concept, but the couple featured, Anna and Steve, really are ranchers and they really are married! It’s so wonderful to see so much authenticity in a styled shoot – from the wedding couple on real horses in the photos as well as an actual officiant (Angie Kelly) and a real meal (by All About Catering Las Vegas)!
The model couple’s love story is classic romance – they were introduced through Anna’s mother, who met Steve while at a training program at his ranch in New Mexico. Anna fell for her cowboy and Steve lasso’d himself a cowgirl – they’ve been inseparable ever since. In fact, their real life horseback wedding inspired many ideas in this shoot!
McKenzi writes about her idea for the stylized wedding concept: “This Southwest themed styled shoot was something I had been wanting to do for a long time, but finding well trained horses and models that could ride them was always my biggest challenge. I finally had a styled shoot dream come true went I met the real-life cowboy and cowgirl couple — Anna & Steve Housley. They were such a joy to work with!”
Every vendor working on this creative concept (see full list, below) photographed at the old Eldorado Canyon mining town brought their own ideas to this magazine worthy spread. There are so many details to love, from the touches of rough burlap softened by Anna’s lace gown, the beautiful worked in cowboy boots, spiky succulents and desert flowers in the bouquets and arrangements, western typefaces, turquoise and coral colors, that totally delicious looking BBQ feast, a blanket ceremony and of course the horses!
What a great inspiration for an outdoor wedding! If you’re looking for more western-style weddings near Vegas, check these LVW posts out: Rustic Legends Ranch Wedding, Vegas Style or Gettin’ Hitched at McKee Ranch

In my opinion, there are few places in Las Vegas as beautiful as the Springs Preserve in the spring. The budding trees and plants are gorgeous and very inspiring. So it’s a great setting for today’s wedding inspiration photo shoot, which is a total treat for your eyes and full of wonderful ideas if you are going for a rustic desert look.
Photographer Megan Vaughan took part in a wedding inspiration/styled shoot that happened at the Springs Preserve in March. This exquisite event, conceptualized by Chelsea LaVere of Orchestrated Shoots and coordinated by Angelica McDonnell of Green Orchid Events had a “Feather and Stone” desert theme, with faded aquamarine and dusty pink tones, strong graphic lines and shapes alongside genuine turquoise stones with feather details for a softer feel. I love the “turquoise” on the cake by Peridot Sweets!
Adding to the depth of this shoot was fabulous vintage tablewear and furniture from Dirty Dishes and The Wooden Trunk. For a complete list of fantastic vendors who took part in this shoot, please see below.

Today’s wedding is LVW’s very first bride submitted wedding, and it is amazing. I’m SO happy Jeannie wrote me to tell me about her big day because it’s so full of amazing details, I know you’re going to love it too as you check out the photos of the event taken by Chiemi Photography.
Jeannie and Salar came from Canada to get married at the Platinum Hotel in September of this year – they said that a Las Vegas wedding was something they always had in mind, since they didn’t want a large traditional wedding nor did they want anything too religious. Salar suggested Vegas as a possible wedding location before they even got married, so it seemed the place to go!
I’m a big time zombie fan, so I loved the details included, especially since they were Vegas-ified! Jeannie writes:
Salar is very into zombies and I wanted to make sure there were also details of that as well – so he picked the cake topper and cake design. We picked up the topper on our scouting trip at the lobby store at the Palms and he painted the groom up to be zombified. Our guest book and poster was a custom portrait done by Rob Sacchetto of Zombie Portraits.
Amazing details – including a guestbook, skull necklace and cute cupcakes from Retro Bakery.
One of the coolest things at the wedding was the Shutterbooth they had set up, with a custom zombie logo. (More photobooth photos here!)
Jeannie and Salar decided on the Platinum Hotel and Spa (just off the Strip) via the forums on The Knot and did a scouting trip a year before the wedding. They wanted something that was unusual, but could hold a fair amount of people – so up to the rooftop it was! Isn’t the view fabulous from up there?
The bride’s dress was altered to tea-length by a seamstress and she added a colored crinoline by Swank Underpinnings in robin’s egg blue to make it pop. So awesome!
One of the best surprises had to have been the Star Wars droids and Darth Vader that showed up though. The groom had no idea they were coming! And the most incredible thing is that they don’t charge a fee, but instead ask you to make a donation to the Children’s Make A Wish Foundation.
That wasn’t all the entertainment at this rocking party though – Travis Allen made an appearance as Elvis and got a conga line going, a DJ from All Night Long rocked out the hits pleasing music fans with very diverse tastes (from heavy metal to classic Iranian songs) and there was even a double decker bus ride to take the guests to see downtown Vegas and Fremont. What a party!
Jeannie was full of great advice for Vegas brides planning a destination wedding in Las Vegas:
Take advantage of all Vegas has to offer for you and your guests. Plan to try and accommodate your guests needs (budget, schedules) so that you can have as many of the important people in your life there as possible. We paid more for a weekend wedding because we knew it would allow people to come using less Vacation time at work. We gave people lots of notice and shared information about flight sales. We chose a central Strip hotel so that people would get the full Vegas experience, and one that was less expensive so that all budgets could afford to stay in the same hotel. Many of our guests had never been to Vegas, and the wedding blew them away – surprised them that it wasn’t a tacky affair at all. Also – if there is any travel required to or from the ceremony / reception venue – definitely make arrangements for your guests – rent a bus to transport them, put yourself in their shoes to make it as comfortable and easy as possible
Love the group shot – I think this is integral to a small Vegas wedding for everyone to remember. Wow.
Thank you SO much Jeannie and Salar. Your wedding looked like a blast, there were some amazing details and you had some great words of advice. Please remember brides, the submissions are open to everyone. Read more about submitting your wedding here.

#1 reason you should always enter a photographer’s giveaway for a wedding shoot or shoot of any kind? You could get amazing photos like these, from MegRuth Photo. The couple featured had entered a contest for wedding photos (actually the groom did, and he kept the fact that he won a secret from his bride) and Meg went out to shoot their event at the then Loews Las Vegas resort (now the Westin Lake Las Vegas).
The rich jewel tones, fantastic floral details (from Enchanted Florist) and happy smiles are gorgeous. Plus the party looks like it was a blast!

When Meg of Megruth Photography alerted me to this wedding, I knew it had to be something special. And I was not disappointed! The word “dreamy” gets thrown around a lot in the wedding world…but it definitely applies to this wedding.
Katie and Ryan were wed at the Springs Preserve, in the gorgeous Origen room. The lighting and wood provide a certain warmth. It’s one of my favourite venues at the Springs Preserve. The freestanding vases of callas from Enchanted Florist were a beautiful choice – they just seem to float in the room.
The bride’s delicate Alençon lace and frothy tulle gown came from Lazaro, and those sparkly platforms from BCBG.
Beautiful portraits – the orange details were a great choice for the Springs Preserve. They really work with the ochre and terracotta tones of the buildings there. And again, the dress! It reminds me of seafoam.
Could be in Paris, right? What a dramatic moment Meg captured here. And I have to say, I love those tattooed brides!
After the ceremony, the celebration moved to Joe’s Seafood Prime Steak & Stone Crab in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace.
