Melissa and Chris from Australia got married in Las Vegas on their anniversary of being together a decade! They elected to have a smaller, funkier wedding with lots of personal touches in Las Vegas with their closest friends and family members joining them for a day of festivities and Olga from Dott Photography capturing all of the moments.
Chris loves Elvis, and Melissa is enamored with all things vintage and glam, so things came together naturally in terms of hair, makeup and fashion. Of course Elvis (Kent Ripley) officiated the vows, which took place at the original Las Vegas chapel: Wee Kirk O’ the Heather. After a portrait session at the Neon Museum Boneyard, the couple joined their wedding party for a a reception dinner at Sensi at the Bellagio.
Melissa is an illustrator and designer (check out her portfolio), so naturally her hand was in many details of the wedding, as you’ll see.
The invitations are gorgeous, and feature watercolor portraits of her little family – Chris, her cats and herself. They mixed Melissa’s artwork and design sense with beautiful details like a library-style response card, dainty paperclips and heart pennant, a laser cut wooden diamond magnet, an information card for travel plans with a vintage pin-up girl on the front, as well as gorgeous script and typography.
Each one was handmade and came nestled in a recycled brown paper enveloped, closed with a red string tie. (Photos courtesy Melissa Avery, http://melissaavery.tumblr.com/)
Melissa also handcrafted these tiny llamas for the wedding, as she happened to be working on a project creating ceramic animals at the time. It was a symbolic nod to an inside joke that is a acknowledges the way Melissa and Chris say I love you to one another. Each guest at the wedding got to take a pair home.
Loving the wedding day manicures!
Best shoe shot ever! Thank you so much for sharing your wedding, Melissa and Chris. It was truly magic.

The colors pop SO much in these photos shot by JamieY Photo! It helps when the bride has a blazing red ‘do, of course. (And wasn’t her hairstyle and overall retro look gorgeous?) The couple, Brenna and Nathan, came from Kansas to be married by Jesse Garon…I mean Elvis, at the Welcome to Las Vegas Sign on the Strip. It was a cute elopement with some amazing photos shot in downtown Vegas afterwards. Then…burgers at In & Out. Sounds pretty much picture perfect to me!
There are more rockin’ photos of this couple over at JamieY Photography’s site.

Elvis and Las Vegas kind of go together like…peanut butter and banana. While going all out with an Elvis theme might be saved for the most hardcore fan, these little touches might be a cute head nod to the history of Vegas for your destination wedding.

This totally adorable elopement comes to us today from Carmen Salazar, a photographer from Sacramento.
This December event features not just one but two Elvises (Elvii??), tequila shots, amazing photos taken on the colorful backdrops in downtown Las Vegas’ Arts District and some gorgeous isolated desert photos. What a beautiful range of images, and what a fun looking couple. I cannot get over the bride’s amazing boots.
The event was completely spontaneous, and was live broadcast on the internet so their moms could watch. The bride writes: “We had never planned on eloping but there just never seemed to be a perfect time to have a wedding, so we thought about it and decided to just do it ourselves in Vegas…”
I love the mini-shoot they did in the Arts District. It’s an amazing part of downtown Las Vegas, and is a place you should totally check out. It’s a favorite spot for photographers to go to for spunky engagement shots.
Stephanie’s boots were borrowed from her sister, and they are “Old Gringos.” Her dress and shawl were borrowed from the photographer.
Some more rad photos of this Elvis infused wedding over on Carmen Salazar’s site!
