Garden-inspired Vow Renewal at Venetian | Meg Ruth Photography

Romantic Floral Wedding at Venetian | Little Vegas Wedding

Elopements are magical on their own, bringing a sense of intimacy and ocean of emotions. Karolina and Ross, today’s couple, eloped in Las Vegas a few years ago as Ross prepared to deploy.

These high school lovebirds celebrated again, three years later, with a marriage blessing and vow renewal at Joan of Arc Catholic Church and Venetian, in front of their friends and family. The mix of Old World charm and classic Italian architecture and gardens at the hotel appealed to the couple, Karolina especially.

A ballroom bubbling over with blooms designed by Naakiti Floral and event design from Andrea Eppolito brought the evening together in such an elegant European fashion. I am especially enchanted by the traditions and customs they wove into their day. From Polish toasts to serving dessert first to their guests at the banquet, life (and love) is sweet for these two.

5 Favorites: Garden Wedding Venues in Las Vegas

Best Garden Wedding Venues | LIttle Vegas Wedding

Today’s venue spotlight falls on my five favorite garden wedding venues in Las Vegas. Despite being in a desert, Las Vegas takes gardening seriously, with many gorgeous parks, venues and botanical gardens to enjoy. From traditional gardens to more desert, xeric landscaped ones, check out these options!

Venus Garden Caesars Palace | Little Vegas Wedding Venue Guide

Venus Gardens at Caesars Palace

Caesars Palace has a few options for garden weddings, but Venus Gardens catches my eye because of the perfect combination of classic Roman architecture and privacy. It’s a little bit themed, but in a classy way.

Beautiful additions like a domed temple, stone bench seating, tiled aisle (say that three times fast!) and a koi pond add special little details and make this garden a true gem. If you catch it at the right time of year, the garden is exploding with flowers. This is one of the larger garden options, seating up to 114 people, and Caesars also permits outside photographers.

Frame House at Springs Preserve

With more than 180 acres featuring an amazing array of walking paths and nature trails, Frame House at Springs Preserve is just one of my favorite venues for a wedding. In fact, I’m not sure where to start: there are more than 10 garden/outdoor venue choices at the Springs for weddings! Although I was married at the Gardens Arboretum, these days I’m more partial to Frame House.

This intimate covered space is nestled amongst some of the prettiest floral displays in the garden, and very near to cactus alley. It’s quiet, private and can be very green — yet is protected from the midday sun. Just lovely for wedding ceremonies of up to 45 guests.

Garden Romance at Venetian

Although the canals and faux Venice-style facades of the shopping mall get all the attention, there are some truly lovely European terraced gardens around the pools at Venetian. For smaller elopements and weddings, the Garden Romance package offers a standing room only ceremony for 10 guests set in a side garden of the Venezia Courtyard. This romantic spot has you surrounded by hedges and lush greenery as well as Italian-style sculptures. Of course, the one downside is that like many other Strip hotels, they will not allow you to use an outside photographer.

Garden Gazebo at JW Marriott Las Vegas

With an extraordinary 54 acres of landscaped grounds, gardens and waterscapes to choose from, weddings at JW Marriott are hard NOT to have in a gorgeous garden! The Garden Gazebo combines a beautiful structure as a backdrop for your vows, while still surrounded by the amazing landscaping. Perfect for weddings of 80 to 200 people, this is a great off Strip venue for slightly larger weddings.

Emerald at Queensridge

Another off Strip choice, Emerald at Queensridge is an all-in-one banquet facility that just so happens to have an elegant garden for wedding ceremonies. Get ready on-site in the luxurious facilities before you walk the aisle under huge trees, then head inside to celebrate in the chic (and high-tech!) ballroom setting. The courtyard is beautiful not only for ceremonies but for photos, too, and looks beautiful day or night.

Adorable Gondola Elopement at Venetian from Cluney Photo

Venetian Gondola Elopement | Little Vegas Wedding

I always feel like I’m spying in on a couple when I feature an elopement on Little Vegas Wedding. It’s so…private and intimate! Hanna and James chose to do their ceremony Vegas-style, and got married on a gondola floating down the replica canal of Venetian Las Vegas.

Going for a different side of Las Vegas for their post-wedding photos, they headed downtown with Cluney Photo to do a shoot at the Neon Boneyard for a touch of old Vegas. Classy, personal and packed full of huge smiles — pretty much the perfect Vegas elopement. Thanks for the peek in Hanna and James!

More from the couple:

We decided to do the Venetian gondola wedding because Hanna’s family, who is very traditional, was not that happy with our initial plan to be married by Elvis. We wanted to keep things low key and enjoy the day, so after the ceremony we toured the Strip and did some sightseeing, in addition to taking a bit of time to take photos at the Neon Museum. We spent a few extra days in Las Vegas, seeing shows and just enjoying the city afterwards.

Ultimate Vegas Wedding Venue Guide: Restaurants for Small Receptions (Part One: North Strip)

Every Monday this year we are highlighting a unique Vegas wedding venue in the Ultimate Vegas Wedding Guide! Today the focus is on restaurants for private wedding receptions on the north end of The Strip.

Restaurant receptions are common for many smaller Vegas weddings, as almost every Las Vegas restaurant offers some kind of private dining, and they make it easy to host a reception for 30 or fewer people. Instead of everyone swimming in a room that is too large for the group, these restaurants tailorsized their venues to smaller groups. You get all the benefits of the restaurant’s decor and location in addition to customized menus, the ambience, service and privacy.

Here are six of my favorite restaurants on the north end of The Strip for wedding receptions of up to 30 guests. Stay tuned next Monday for Part Two which covers South and Center Strip restaurants.

26 Wedding Cakes Masquerading as Hotels in Las Vegas

Here’s a hazard as a wedding blogger. You look at many, MANY wedding cakes every day. But how many is too many?

Pinterest, Flickr, on other wedding blogs, cake blogs, in cake studio windows…they all feed the addiction. And if you’re a Vegas hotel obsessed blogger this just sort of blends together after a while, and sometimes, well, the cakes start to look like Vegas hotels. Or is it the other way around?

So join me on a journey as we re-imagine some famous Las Vegas hotels, casinos and landmarks as wedding cakes in this fun post. While all but one of these cakes were not expressly designed to reflect the hotel, I couldn’t help but notice a passing resemblance in many of these cases.

Some of the comparisons are offbeat and a little abstract. Some are right on the nose. All are inspired by the architecture, colors and themes of various Las Vegas hotels and landmarks.

1. Golden Nugget

Inspiration drawn by the prismatic wall that lines the exterior of the Golden Nugget

2. Mix Restaurant at Mandalay bay

Cake: http://sweetsbynataliekay.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/abbey-chads-wedding/ | MiX

Cake by Sweets by Natalie Kay | Mix at Mandalay Bay

The glass bubbles also remind me of Twist at Mandarin Oriental, too. It’s that glass bubble connection.

3. O’Sheas

RIP O’Sheas. You are missed.

4. LOVE by Cirque du Soleil at Mirage

Obviously.

5. Tournament of Kings at Excalibur

That cake is probably too regal to be associated with Excalibur, to be honest

6. Fab Rooms at Flamingo

I actually have a hard time believing this ISN’T the cake directly inspired by something in Vegas. But that’s actually the next cake…

7. Stardust

Cake: |

Cake by Retro Bakery (Las Vegas) | Stardust sign

Kari of Retro Bakery in Las Vegas was inspired by the old school Stardust (RIP) sign for this cake

8. Linq at The Quad

At first I thought this most reminded me of Cosmopolitan (the purple, maybe?) but then Vegas Tripping reminded me of the Linq Vortex at the renovated Quad. Nice Qake, huh?

9. Poker Room at Aria

10. Mandalay Bay Beach

Cake: http://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/73530942/edible-sugar-fan-coral-9-pieces-beach | Mandalay Bay Beach

Sugar art on cake by Andiespecialtycakes  | Mandalay Bay Beach

11. Dale Chihuly Glass Installation at Bellagio

That cake is sugar art, directly inspired by Chihuly’s work. Amazing, right?

12. Caesars Palace

Cake: http://www.ericaobrien.com/ | Caesars Palace

Cake by Erica O’Brien Cakes | Caesars Palace

13. Chandelier Bar at Cosmopolitan

14. Circus Circus

Oddly, there is a lack of wedding cakes with a creepy clown theme.

15. The Shops at Crystals

Cake http://www.choccywoccydoodah.com/products/three-tier-vortex | The Shops at Crystals

Cake by CHOCCYWOCCYDOODAH Chocolaterie | The Shops at Crystals

To me, the cake is not even the most ridiculous thing here (although it IS impressive) it’s the name of the chocolate boutique that makes it: CHOCCYWOCCYDOODAH. I’ll bet they Google really well. They also do an amazing mermaid cake I almost included as an homage to Silverton Lodge and Casino.

16. Encore Lobby Bar and Cafe

Cake: |

Cake by Unknown | Encore Lobby Bar + Cafe

I think I saw every damned red and gold cake on the planet trying to match this bar

17. Veer Towers

Alright, I admit it. I’m stretching it with this one. I just really like that cake!

18. Mandalay Bay

I would have used this for Tropicana if they had kept their gold windows.

19. Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health

So the sugar “curl” on top is actually supposed to resemble an ocean wave, but all I saw was the twisted exterior of the Lou Ruvo Center when I saw it.

20. Luxor

This is the cake I am most likely to inhale on this list, by the way. It’s white chocolate + chai with a caramel center, topped with gold leaf. All in an adorable single serving size. Maybe not so adorable when you’ve eaten three, though

Could also double as a cake stand in for the Clark County Government Center pyramid

21. NY NY Las Vegas

22. Suite at Bellagio

23. Vdara

Cake: |

Cake by Unknown | Bold Chevron Wall at Vdara

24. Venetian and Palazzo

Good for Rio, maybe, too?

25. Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas

I really really wanted to replicate the gold bullion wall in the lobby of the Mandarin for this one, but no body made a cake nice enough to show off, so fans it was. The runner up is below

26. Chateau at Paris Las Vegas

Cause nothing says “classy French baroque design” like one of the busiest clubs on the Strip and the shenanigans that happen in there

***

If you’re looking for that extra cute layer of Vegas fun for your wedding, maybe matching your cake to your venue is just the ticket! But at the very least, you got to check out some gorgeous eye candy. Or eye cake, as it were. :)

If you didn’t have a cake craving at the start of this post, you probably do now. I’m off to get a slice!
