Day of the Dead Wedding at Hard Rock Cafe | The Amberlight Collective

El Dorado Canyon | Little Vegas Wedding

Another long-distance couple, Steph and Anthony came all the way from Australia. As a result they packed every second of their Vegas wedding full of amazing locations and fun times. Weddings planned from so far typically have a smaller guestlist, but Steph and Anthony’s family and friends represented and made the journey to support them.

The couple chose a few iconic locations for their wedding photos, including El Dorado Canyon and downtown Las Vegas, rejoining their guests at Hard Rock Cafe for the reception. Their theme featured Day of the Dead design and details, with a very busy dancefloor. Surrounded by memorabilia from rock kings and queens with a view of the Strip from the patio, everyone celebrated until the wee hours.

Neon Museum Breakfast Wedding | Brilliant Imagery

Neon Museum | Little Vegas Wedding

One of the biggest advantages to a Vegas wedding has to be the flexibility in terms of timing. Extra important due to the heat from May through September. An afternoon wedding too hot with too flat of light? Try a night ceremony. Or, better yet: a fun breakfast ceremony.

Jake and Elena went just that route, hosting an incredible early morning ceremony at the Neon Museum right in the Boneyard, complete with mimosas and a doughnut bar. Later they moved everyone over to Mundo (then located at World Market Center) for a lunch reception. Read on for all the details from this couple.

WHY LAS VEGAS?

After searching for venues in Texas without much luck I remembered coming across a Thrillist article about the Neon Museum. In all our trips to Vegas we never made it there for sightseeing, though. I thought I’d inquire to see if they did weddings and much to my delight they did and at a reasonable price!

THE CEREMONY — Boneyard at The Neon Museum

It was so great! We were crazy enough to decide to get married in Vegas in August and I was determined to have an outdoor wedding so I knew we had to do it early in the day so as not to give our guests heat stroke. With a morning ceremony the feel was more informal yet still nice, which I loved as we weren’t looking to have a traditional wedding that our guests have been to many times over. We wanted something memorable and fun and it was that and then some.

THE RECEPTION — Mundo

We were transported by private bus from the Neon Museum to Mundo for our reception. It was more of a lunch reception. The majority of the guestlist live in Texas, a state heavily influenced by Mexican culture, so we knew our friends and family would enjoy a lunch with some Latin flair. Mundo did not disappoint both with its excellent cuisine and its fun and funky atmosphere! Instead of a traditional wedding cake we served wedding CHURROS! How fun is that?!

DIY DETAILS + DECOR

We chose to go with a color palette that reflected the colors of the desert. Nude, terracotta, cactus or sage green, lilac/lavender, light pink/blush, mustard and pale yellow were all incorporated. I didn’t want anything too dramatic or bold since we were getting married in the morning, so we went with soft and muted. The girls picked their own dresses in shades of pink and the boys were in matching lavender shirts with deep purple ties: the color of my husband’s collegeM Texas Christian University, with khaki slacks. I carried a simple bouquet of white tulips while the girls carried bouquets in shades of dusty pink, ivory and mustard yellow.

FAVORITE MEMORY

I loved everything about our wedding day. From primping with my gals over Champagne and breakfast in our room at the Aria pre-ceremony, to the fun and colorful atmosphere of our morning ceremony at the Neon Museum. Then the delicious food and cocktails and fun photo ops with the teal wingback and birdcage chairs at Mundo to the after party at the pool at Aria that afternoon. If I had to pick a specific element though it would have to be the doughnut and mimosa bar we served during our ceremony at the Neon Museum. We are known to be the Among our friends and family we are known to be doughnut and Champagne lovers so it was our way of putting our “stamp” and a personal touch that played out perfectly with our morning ceremony. Since we incorporated the breakfast element at the ceremony we decided to go with serving lunch at our reception.

LAS VEGAS WEDDING TIPS FROM JAKE AND ELENA

If our budget allowed I would’ve hired a wedding planner to help me with details. That’s something I would highly recommend especially for brides trying to plan from another city. It would’ve alleviated so much stress since I wasn’t very familiar with the wedding scene in Las Vegas. I would also hire private transportation to take you around town if your ceremony and reception are not at the hotel you and your guests are staying at and especially if the ceremony and reception are at different locations as were ours.

Old Hollywood-inspired Styled Shoot at the Barrymore | Marie and Michael Photography

Retro Wedding at The Barrymore | Little Vegas Wedding

If you want to go Hollywood glam in Las Vegas, The Barrymore is a perfect venue to choose. It’s got this retro feel, full of golden details and decadent decor (like that wallpaper! Unf.)

I like to recommend it for smaller wedding parties because it’s got a patio and a built-in theme already. Here’s a gorgeous peek at the space in a styled shoot that evokes romance and glamour from two Austrian wedding photographers who did a little work while visiting the city recently.

Retro Wedding Reception at The Peppermill | POPography

Retro Reception at The Peppermill | Little Vegas Wedding

If you have ever had the pleasure of visiting The Peppermill, you will understand why I am so excited to share today’s wedding. And if you haven’t been … what are you waiting for!? It’s a kitschy classic that oozes old school Vegas style. Lots of neon, cozy couches and cheesy details served alongside big cocktails and diner classics. It’s a must go. Especially after you see how awesome a wedding reception there can be!

Lauren and Joe had a day full of amazing moments, from a first look at Cosmopolitan’s Chandelier Bar to cruising the Strip in an oversized Dodge Challenger, and of course, celebrating their wedding with loved ones.

WHY LAS VEGAS?

I first went to Vegas in 2008 with my best friend Charlie. I loved it out there so much. I said back then that if I was ever “stupid enough to get married” I would do it in Vegas…haha! Careful what you wish for. When Joe proposed to me the first thing I said (after yes!) was: Please can we do it in Vegas?

THE CEREMONY — Elvis on the Terrace at Vegas Weddings

it was dark and the fairylights on the gazebo were simply beautiful. It was a fun-filled romantic ceremony … we loved every second. I walked down the aisle to Can’t Help Falling in Love and my mum gave me away. We had 20 guests which was amazing considering my side of the wedding party were from the U.K. and Joe’s family are spread out across the U.S.

THE RECEPTION — The Peppermill

The Peppermill was an amazing place! The food is incredible and the ambiance was just perfect for us. I love the colours and the neon lights. Reminds me of old meets new Vegas. I made contact with Peggy, the owner, and asked if it would be possible for us to have our wedding reception there. She was more than happy to accommodate us and was really helpful. I had a purple colour theme and she even offered to order in purple napkins. I dropped my table decorations and favours in the day before and they laid them out beautifully for us. It was perfect! We opted for the normal menu but they do have set menus, too. As our wedding was quite late it was the best venue, being open 24/7. And there was no deadline or curfew. Three weeks later we had another reception in the U.K. for 70 people.

DIY DETAILS + DECOR

I made all the ladies in my wedding group a bracelet with a purple ribbon and a silver State of Nevada charm as a thank you gift. I also made the save the date note myself and all the wedding invitation inserts. The wedding favours were also DIY’d. I bought poker chips and stuck on some stickers I had made onto them. These were included with a thank you poem. I was trying to keep the costs low and the wedding personal.

FAVORITE MEMORY

There are so many. It was just incredible. Just being able to get married to the man I love, in one of my favourite cities in the world, surrounded by our friends and family was a dream come true. Our wedding had a live feed too so all our friends and family who couldn’t make it could watch. My dad also couldn’t make it out to Vegas for the wedding, but en route to the wedding chapel, Joe and I FaceTimed him in the U.K. He had a mini bottle of Champagne at the ready while he watched online (even though it was 3:30 a.m.)

LAS VEGAS WEDDING TIPS FROM LAUREN AND JOE

Be organized and do your research. Make sure you have an itinerary and that you get confirmations for everything. I didn’t see my actual wedding venue until two days before the wedding, but it was perfect. I spent hours online reading reviews and estimating travel times etc.

Modern MGM Grand Reception | Chrystal Stringer Photography

Real Weddings | Little Vegas Wedding

Lorie and Martin are two Albertans who headed to Sin City to get hitched in a modern Vegas way. Opting for an intimate guest list allowed them to indulge in their favourite restaurant for their reception and capture some absolutely magical photos of the day.
